Testers Lack Creativity

Do you, as a tester, lack creativity? Do you think the testing industry lacks it?

The next theme of The Testing Planet is on ‘Creativity’. How creative, you may be thinking! It was chosen because of the perception, we believe, that testers and testing lack creativity.

To an extent this may be true. We don’t produce visually stunning imagery like designers do. We most likely don’t whip up a nice bit of software like developers do.

Of course our jobs are not the same as designers or developers, but it doesn’t mean we can’t be creative. After all, creativity comes in many forms.

We would like to know – how are you being creative? And can you share this by writing something for the next issue of The Testing Planet?

Perhaps you’ve found a new way of doing something. Or maybe you’ve collaborated with a designer or developer to come up with a new solution. Or maybe you’ve found out how creativity can help you find bugs. Or maybe you’ve managed to convince your boss to ditch a standard test plan for something else. A one page plan? A MindMap? Who knows…the options are endless…and we want to hear about them!

The deadline for submissions is the 30th of September. You can submit here or if you would like some advice or would like to pass an idea through, then please feel free to email simon@softwaretestingclub.com
